About Vincent Fantauzzo

Vincent Fantauzzo is a renowned Australian artist whose work has been exhibited throughout the USA, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Australia.

Born in the UK in 1977, Vincent moved to Australia with his family when he was a child. At school he struggled to read due to dyslexia and was eventually kicked out. Nevertheless he continued to explore his vivid imagination.

He went on to study fine art at RMIT University and holds a Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting) and a Master of Fine Art.

In 2008 Vincent first entered Australia’s premier portrait competition, the Archibald Prize, with a painting of the late Heath Ledger. It was adjudged the runner-up and won the People’s Choice Award. He has since been a finalist on four occasions, and on three of those his work has won the People’s Choice Award: in 2009 for his entry of actor Brandon Walters; in 2013 for a portrait of his wife, actor Asher Keddie; and in 2014 for a self-portrait as his son Luca.

Vincent also won the Packing Room Prize (chosen by NSW Art Gallery staff) in 2011 with a painting of chef Matt Moran. The same year he won the Doug Moran Portrait Prize for his depiction of Baz Lurhmann, and the Metro Art Award.

Throughout his career Vincent has worked extensively overseas. In 2009 he produced 30 portraits in 30 days in Hong Kong and went on to repeat this project in New York in 2011 and in Australia in 2012, where he painted inspirational Australians. These portraits were later displayed at National Gallery of Victoria.

In addition to his work as an artist, Vincent is an Adjunct Professor at RMIT and is a brand ambassador for Audi, Laurent Perrier and Capitol Grand. He often collaborates with film makers and other creative people on their projects.
